Friday, June 5- Last day that the Board of Elections can mail ballots.
Tuesday, June 9, 2020 - Absentee ballots must be received by the
Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections office by election day by 7:00 p.m.
       in order to be counted.
No absentee ballots are issued after the Friday before Election Day.
No MARKED ABSENTEE BALLOTS can be accepted
AT POLLING LOCATIONS on Election Day.

  • Under GEORGIA CODE O.C.G.A. 21-2-388, if a voter requests an absentee ballot but decides to vote in person, they will need to bring the absentee ballot to the polling place with them to have it spoiled and be able to vote in person. If they don't have the absentee ballot with them, the poll manager has to mark their absentee ballot as "cancelled" in the poll book so if it comes in the mail later they know this person already voted in person and they should not count that absentee vote.
NOTE: No marked Absentee Ballots can be accepted AT POLLING LOCATIONS on Election Day!
