2024 Republican Convention Cycle Information
MASS PRECINCT CAUCUS
The Clarke County Mass Precinct Caucus will be held on Saturday, FEBRUARY 24, 2024 the Country Inn and Suites, 236 Old Epps Bridge Road, Athens 30606. Registration will begin at 9:00 am with the doors closing at 10:00 am. The purpose of this meeting will be to gather voters in every precinct to caucus (collaborate) to determine leaders in individual precincts and to elect Delegates and Alternates to the County Convention held in March and the District Convention held in April. Note that only those delegates elected by the precincts may vote in the County Convention. There is no registration fee. To speed up registration on the day of the caucus, you can register at ONLINE REGISTRATION OR you may register at the caucus. The doors open for registration at 9:00 a.m. DOORS CLOSE PROMPTLY AT 10:00 a.m. when the business of the Caucus begins.
No admittance is allowed after the doors closed.
COUNTY CONVENTION
The Athens Clarke County GOP Convention will be held on Saturday, MARCH 23, 2024, at the Country Inn and Suites, 236 Old Epps Bridge Road, Athens 30606. The purpose of the county convention is to elect delegates and alternates to the District and State Conventions. There is no registration fee.
TENTH DISTRICT CONVENTION
The 10th District Convention will be held on Saturday, APRIL 20, 2024. The 10th District Convention will be held at Oconee County Civic Center, 2661 Hog Mountain Road, Watkinsville, GA 30677. There will be a fee of $35 prepaid or $40 at the door. The purpose is to elect Delegates and Alternates to represent the 10th District at the State Convention, held in June.
GEORGIA STATE REPUBLICAN CONVENTION
The Georgia State Republican Convention will be held Friday and Saturday, May 17 and 18, 2024 in Columbus. Georgia at the Convention and Trade Center located in the Historic Iron Works, 801 Front Avenue, Columbus, GA 31901. There IS a fee associated with attendance at the State Convention. If you attend all of the activities (registration, hotel, parties, dinner, breakfast, etc.) then it may be several hundred dollars. You can tailor your experience according to your budget. Delegates are only required to attend the business meeting on Saturday, June 10. Elected Delegates and Alternates will receive registration information by email.
REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION
The Republican National Convention is scheduled to be held July 15-18, 2024 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Who can be a delegate?
You must be registered to vote in Clarke County Georgia, in the precinct/district/state in which the convention is held.
Who should be a delegate?
The best delegates/alternates pool should come from those who attend GOP meetings regularly and are members of the local Clarke County Republican Party.
How much does it cost to attend a convention?
Precinct Caucus: $0
County Convention: $0
District Convention Registration Fee: $$
State Convention: There is a registration fee (amount TBD). Total cost will depend on what you attend (Saturday only, just convention fees at a minimum).
