PARTICIPATE AND BE PART OF THE PROCESS

Why do we hold conventions? (By Karen Schwind)
In 2017, a non-presidential election year, we hold conventions to vote on local, district, and state GOP officers and committee members. We also vote on key resolutions to let the Republican officials know where the rank-and-file stand on important issues.

In Presidential Election years, including 2016, the main work we do - the real work of the party - is to choose delegates and alternates to the National Convention. These delegates will vote on the Republican candidate for President of the United States.

Who can be a delegate?
Anyone registered to vote by February 1, 2017 in the precinct/district/state in which the convention is held
Who should be a delegate?
The best delegates/alternates pool should come from those who attend GOP meetings regularly and are members of the local GOP.
How much does it cost to attend a convention?
Precinct meetings: $0
County Convention: $0
District Convention: Fee determined by District Committee
State Convention: Depends on what you attend: Saturday only: just convention fees. If you attend all of the activities (hotels, parties, dinner, breakfast, etc.) then it may be several hundred dollars.
